The boy’s mother and brother were discharged soon after New Jersey State Police escorted their ambulance to the hospital.
Hospital officials said the patient hadn’t been exposed to the virus and was being treated for traveling symptoms. He remained there through Tuesday afternoon.
HUMC — designated as an “assessment hospital” where potential Ebola patients receive care for up to four days while awaiting results of a blood test — was following protocols established by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Fevers are a symptom of Ebola.
