The 36-year-old Jersey City woman — apparently not realizing the ring was missing until he was gone — notified Port Authority Police after the 11:30 p.m. incident Sunday at the authority Technical Center on Erie Street.

Using her description of the man, Port Authority police identified 47-year-old Chris Ingram of Jersey City, who already was being held in the Hudson County Jail on another charge, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The 5-foot-6, 150-pound Ingram is charged with theft.

Police also recovered the 7½-carat ring, Pentangelo said.
