The PAPD officer was stopped near the New York tower with her emergency lights on, conducting a security check, when her SUV was struck by a 2000 Subaru at 5:25 a.m., the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Ramon Infante “had a strong scent of alcohol on his breath and was unsteady on his foot,” Pentangelo said.

He was taken to the 28th precinct off nearby 123rd Street for chemical/alcohol testing and was charged soon after with DWI and vehicular assault, he said.

The officer was treated at Hackensack University Medical Center for neck and back injuries, Pentangelo said.
