Neither Timothy Faistl, 31, of Colts Neck, nor his 24-year-old passenger were injured in the 2:15 a.m. crash yesterday outside a BP gas station at 12th and Erie streets, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Officers helped both out of the toppled 2014 Jeep Commander through a window, then noticed “a strong odor of alcohol” on Faistl, Pentangelo said.
“His eyes were glassy and bloodshot and his body was swaying,” he said. “He failed sobriety tests and was placed under arrest without incident.”
The vehicle was towed.
Police charged Faistl with DWI and reckless driving.
