Police chief confirms charges against Westwood homeowner in teen alcohol party

ONLY ON CVP: A Westwood homeowner will face criminal charges following a drunken weekend party at her house that saw dozens of teens scatter into the woods when police arrived and a vomiting 16-year-old boy taken to the hospital, Police Chief Frank Regino told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

“Our biggest concern was that everyone was safe,” Regino said. “You had a lot of teenagers run out the back door.”

Regino confirmed a report yesterday on CLIFFVIEW PILOT that anywhere from 40-50 teens dashed from the Fourth Avenue house just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

He said he couldn’t confirm neighbors’ reports that the partiers included high school football players.

The house is on dead end street, with a stream behind it (Musquapsink Brook) that leads to a park and another street.

“There were kids there that night who weren’t drinking,” the chief said. “We asked them to call their friends who took off and make sure that they were OK.”

The intoxicated teen was taken to Hackensack UMC at Pascack Valley, he said. His father didn’t want to press charges against the woman in whose house the party was held, Regino said.

“He said his son just made a stupid mistake,” the chief said.

The chief confirmed, however, that his detectives were preparing their own charges against the woman, who he said was home and supplied the alcohol.

“It was all beer and hard liquor,” a local source with direct knowledge of the incident told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
