Lt. David Angelucci was on patrol on Route 4 west near Paramus Road when he got the call around 10 o’clock Sunday morning that someone had taken a 2004 Toyota Corolla from the General Driving School in River Edge.
Moments later, he spotted the car and chased the driver into Fair Lawn.
William Kavanaugh, 27, of Maywood (left), eventually pulled over and was taken into custody.
He is being held on $20,000 bail in the Bergen County, charged with possession of stolen property and eluding police. Theft charges could follow.
