Paramus car thief leads high-speed chase through several towns

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Authorities said a car thief led police on a chase that began in Paramus and then was broken off in Lodi because he was driving at such a high speed.

Paramus police said the thief took the 2011 gold Dodge Durango from a Dunkin Donuts on Route 17 around 11:10 p.m. Monday night after the 48-year-old driver from Hackensack left the truck running.

He spotted it being backed out its parking spot and called police.

Patrol units from various departments, including the Bergen County Police, chased the thief from Paramus through Oradell and Hackensack before heading into Saddle Brook.

The vehicle hadn’t been recovered as of this morning.
