Bail for 31-year-old Kye M. Giacalone of Lodi was boosted to $75,000.

Giacalone, who’d been free on $20,000 bail, is being held in the Bergen County Jail.

Maywood investigators added nine charges that include:

theft of entrusted funds;
theft by deception;
credit card theft;
forgery;
false impersonation.

Police first arrested Giacalone last Friday at the admissions office of the Maple Glenn Nursing Home, where she worked, Maywood Detective Sgt. Mark Gillies said.

After befriending a patient there, she obtained power of attorney and began opening credit cards under the victim’s name that she used for herself, he said.

Giacalone continued the thefts ever after the resident moved to another nursing home, Gillies said.

A family friend noticed the money missing and contacted police.

The intial count was $30,000, but that quickly grew as the detectives continued to investigate.
