North Arlington police broke into the house and freed the man, who’s now being cared for by other relatives.

Terry and Nicholas Shelton, already behind bars in connection with Friday night’s holdup of the TD Bank on Main Street in Little Ferry, face additional charges of neglect of the elderly or disabled.
Both were briefly brought into a courtroom at the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack for first appearances this morning on the bank robbery and neglect charges. The judge continued their bails.
Ohio authorities several weeks ago issued a fugitive warrant for Terry Shelton (above, right), who police said robbed the bank of nearly $6,000 wearing a clown mask while out on parole. Witnesses reported seeing him running toward the getaway car driven by Nicholas Shelton (left) while still wearing the mask, his peat coat splotched with dye from an exploding pack hidden inside the stolen loot.
Shelton was released from an Ohio prison this past July on three years of intensive supervised parole after serving eight years for burglary, aggravated assault on a police officer and violating “post-release control” following a previous prison sentence.

Ohio authorities issued the no-bail warrant after he left the state, records show.
Shelton was believed to be hiding out in the Geraldine Road house that his younger brother bought from their mentally challenged uncle, North Arlington Police Chief Louis Ghione told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.
“We’d been watching the house off and on for at least a month, looking for Terry,” Ghione said. “He didn’t produce himself until the robbery.”
North Arlington Detective Mark Ballantyne knew that Nicholas Shelton was responsible for his uncle, the chief said. So uniformed officers went to the house following the brothers’ arrests.
“They didn’t get an answer at the door, so they forced their way in,” he told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “They found the uncle locked in a bedroom.”
State Adult Protective Services was called and relatives contacted, Ghione said.
“He’s OK and being taken care of,” the chief said.
Nicholas Shelton was arrested soon after Friday night’s robbery after he crashed the getaway car in East Rutherford. Police said they found the smashed-up 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse on the entrance ramp to Route 3 from Route 120 — and a dazed Shelton hiding in the nearby weeds — after he fled a traffic stop by a Moonachie police officer in Carlstadt.
Terry Shelton, who police said hopped out of the car and ran after the stop, was tracked to an abandoned chicken coop in the Meadowlands swamps and bitten by Dak, a Bergen County Sheriff’s K9 dog, before being taken into custody.

The neglect charges out of North Arlington add $5,000 each to both brothers’ bail.
That bumps Terry Shelton’s bail to $1,015,000 and Nicholas Shelton’s to $515,000.
There’s also the warrant on Terry Shelton from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
