New Milford teen who nearly drowned out of intensive care

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: “The young man involved in yesterday’s near-drowning incident has been taken out of intensive care and is in his own room,” New Milford Police Chief Frank Papapietro said this afternoon of a 17-year-old man who was pulled from a Madison Avenue backyard pool and revived.

The victim was still unconscious when EMTs arrived and took him to Hackensack  University Medical Center, where he was initially listed in critical condition after being taken there unconscious.

The call came in around 3:30 yesterday afternoon.

The homeowner, Scott Brown, had pulled the teen from the pool after he had trouble in the deep end and went under during an informal gathering,  Papapietro said a short time afterward.

Police Lt. John O’Malley and Officers Justin Pisano and Ceorge Herrero, began CPR, along with Brown, the chief said, adding that the teen apparently had gone into cardiac arrest.

“The members of the New Milford Police Dept. continue to send our thoughts and prayers to his family for his full recovery,” Papapietro told CLIFFVIEW PILOT just after 3 p.m. today.
