Police Chief Frank Papapietro said the girl told her parents last night about the alleged incident, which she said happened around 2:30 p.m. near the corner of Henley Avenue and Boulevard.
She said the driver of a night a four-door, silver-colored vehicle with a “squared-off front and rear” pulled alongside her as she was walking west on Henley, “lowered the passenger side window and asked her if she wanted a ride,” the chief said.
“She refused and continued walking and thought nothing of the incident until she mentioned it to her family and realized there were other incidents in the area,” Papapietro added.
The girl, who is being re-interviewed by detectives today, described the driver as white, in his mid-40s, with a large nose, bushy eyebrows, brown eyes, short brown hair and a round face.
“Parents are urged to advise their children to report any incidents where they are approached by a stranger immediately,” Papapietro said.
