Meanwhile, her son was being held on $300,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and two illegal weapons possession counts.
The officer was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where a CT scan found no serious damage, following the Lanza Avenue incident yesterday afternoon.
The eight-year veteran had some cuts and bruises on his head, authorities said.
Marina Kaloyeva, 52, called police just before 5 o’clock last night saying that she’d been involved in a dispute with her son, 23-year-old Dmitry Minin, Detective Capt. Darren Sucorowski said today.
She told the officer when he arrived that her son “went out the back door and that he’s crazy,” Sucorowski said.
The officer walked around back, found an open door and headed up the stairs when Minin suddenly emerged from a hiding place, swung the bar and hit him in the back of the head, the captain said.
The officer regained his composure, radioed for backup and subdued the 6-foot-4-inch, 201-pound Minin, he said.
Minin was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, “where it was learned he may have taken numerous pills prior to the officer’s arrival,” Sucorowski said.
As backups tended to their colleague and took Minin into custody, his mother grabbed the bar and hid it, the captain said.
She was charged with obstruction and released on a summons to appear in Municipal Court, he said.
