Alfonso Salas Vazquez , 45, also pleaded guilty to impairing the morals of the girl’s sister, who prosecutors said was just over 13 when she caught him in the act.

The sister told her mother, who immediately called Garfield police, Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor Marybel Mercado Ramirez told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

They arrested Vazquez – who is single and worked at a Moonachie bakery — within minutes of receiving the call and notified the prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit.

It wasn’t until later that the extent of the abuse was revealed — to the mother’s shock and horror, Ramirez said.

Vazquez struck a deal that will send him to state prison for 20 years — 17 of it mandatory — followed by deportation back to Mexico.

It will also spare the children the ordeal of a trial, the prosecutor said.

Vazquez first will be evaluated at the state Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel for repetitive and compulsive behavior to determine whether he should serve his sentence there.
