Officer Greg Mulawka stopped the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee on northbound Route 17 yesterday for a broken tail light and an unsafe lane change, Detective Jason Liaban told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

The driver, Kyle Jeffers, 25, and his brother, Andrew, 27, both from Airmont, “gave conflicting accounts of their travels, provided dishonest answers and displayed nervous behavior,” Liaban said.

A Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 unit responded and gave a positive indication for drugs, the detective said.

The authorized search turned up dozens of bags of heroin marked “starbucks,” along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Andrew Jeffers (mugshot, above) was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia and released.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Kyle Jeffers’s arrest.
