A fitness center patron who came out to find someone in his car called Paramus police, who nearly nabbed their suspect in the woods behind the facility shortly before noon, said Paramus Lt. John Scully, the operations division commander.

A dispatcher radioed witnesses’ description of the bandit to local police departments, while a Bergen County Police Department K-9 unit searched a perimeter set up by units from Paramus, Maywood, Hackensack and the BCPD.

Police were dissolving the perimeter when Maywood Officer Walter Moussou, while talking with Officer Greg Mulawka, saw the suspect emerge from the woods.

Moussou grabbed him and turned him over to Paramus police.

They later determined that he lifted the victim’s keys from the fitness center’s locker room.

Daniel Milano, 20, of Lodi was being held on $15,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary, possession of stolen property and eluding, pending a court appearance.
