Officer Jason Liaban pulled over a rented car with tinted windows near Woodland Avenue after the driver failed to signal a lane, Detective Sgt. Mark Gillies told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Inside the blue Chevy Impala, Liaban “detected a raw odor of marijuana,” the sergeant said.

Liaban ordered both out of the car and found a small amount of pot on the passenger, 29-year-old Ricardo A. Dacosta, Gillies said.

Police obtained consent to search the vehicle, finding the two pounds in the trunk, he told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

They also seized $1,684 in alleged drug proceeds from the driver, Fabio Ramos, 26, and charged him with money laundering. Both men are from Newark.

They are each being held on $10,000 cash bail each in the Bergen County Jail on various drug charges.
