Officer Erik Aronson found the car bearing plates to another car with an expired registration after spotting it off Essex Street just after 8:30 p.m. Friday, Detective Jason Liaban told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.
The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Changzhan Zhou, “falsely identified himself as another person,” after which spotted the bag of crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in plain view, he said.
Zhou resisted while being taken into custody, Liaban added.
The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 Unit responded and produced a positive indication for drugs, the detective said.
Police obtained a search warrant, which turned up various bogus licenses and IDs, “along with materials that would assist with the manufacture of fraudulent documents,” he said.
Zhou was being held on $91,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with possession of meth and forgery devices, resisting arrest and false impersonation, among other offenses.
