Maywood Officer Seizes Heroin, Pot, More In Route 17 Stop

MAYWOOD, N.J. -- An alert Maywood police officer investigating a cracked windshield arrested the driver after finding 63 bags of heroin, amphetamine pills, methadone hydrochloride pills, marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

Officer Peter Donatello stopped the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee on northbound Route 17 just after 5 p.m. Thursday, Detective Jason Liaban told Daily Voice.

Smelling raw marijuana, Donatello questioned the driver, who acted nervously, Liaban said.

A consented search turned up the contraband, he said.

Shaun Casey, of Monroe, NY remained held on $15,000 in the Bergen County Jail, charged with various drug offenses.
