Amari F. Estiverne, 19, who was stabbed in the brawl, told police he was with two friends when they got into it with another group on school grounds just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, Police Chief Robert Carney said this afternoon.

Police responding to the call found him on the Elizabeth Avenue side near the Margaret Street Bridge and no one else around, Carney said.

As CLIFFVIEW PILOT reported exclusively, they found the weapon — a steak knife — in a nearby garbage can.

Estiverne was treated at Hackensack University Medical Center and released a short time after.

He was arrested this afternoon and charged with rioting, simple assault and disorderly conduct, Carney said. Bail was set at $7,500.

Delinquency complaints were signed against one of the youths for aggravated assault, endangering an injured victim, disorderly conduct and three counts of illegal weapons possession — a metal pipe, the chief said.

The two other juveniles received delinquency complaints for aggravated assault, endangering an injured victim and disorderly conduct, he said.

A second adult, Lerone Dorville, also 19 (mugshot, above), was charged with rioting, disorderly conduct and endangering an injured victim, he said. He, too, had bail set at $7,500.

Carney didn’t specify who police believe wielded the knife.

Dorville and Estiverne were given Oct. 29 arraignment dates, Carney said.
