Police at the time said they discovered the guns after Michael J. Maletta (above) signed a consent form so that he could get an inventory of the Jeep’s contents before it was towed following the Nov. 6, 2013 crash.

Maletta, 47, was carrying an operable Armalite M-15 5.56 assault rifle, a Remington 870 shotgun, a .22-caliber Beeman rifle and a Taurus .357 Magnum revolver without any of the necessary permits or purchaser cards, the indictment returned in Hackensack alleges.

Maletta posted $150,000 bail and was released from the Bergen County Jail six days after his arrest.
