Man cut from car after rain-slicked Washington Avenue crash

Washington Township firefighters cut a 22-year-old man from his car after it skidded into the oncoming lane of rain-slicked Washington Avenue and was smashed by another vehicle. Thanks to several calls from other motorists, police got to the scene quickly following the 1:30 crash, Police Chief Randy Ciocco said.

They found the Ozone Park, N.Y., resident pinned in his Honda, and the driver of the other vehicle — a 19-year-old Westwood man  — essentially unharmed in his Subaru. He declined medical attention, police said.

Ciocco said the Accord was headed west when it swerved into the eastbound lane and was struck by the Subaru. Paramedics took the other driver to Hackensack University Medical Center with undetermined injuries, the chief said.

Ciocco cited the quick response by, and coordination among, Washington Township police and firefighters, along with the Hillsdale Ambulance Corps and HUMC Paramedics 105.
