Man charged with trying to take Hackensack officer’s gun in house-party street brawl

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Hackensack party-goers clashed with police before dawn yesterday, leading to four arrests, including one of a Staten Island man charged with trying to snatch an officer’s gun.

Leonard S. Gueye “tried to disarm one of the officers” sent to disperse the 60 or so people who spilled onto Kansas Street from a house party around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Detective Capt. Thomas Salcedo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Gueye (top, left), 21, who was being held on $75,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, was one of a few in the crowd who “became combative,” Salcedo said.

He is charged with trying to take an officer’s gun, rioting, assaulting police and resisting arrest.

Also being held on $75,000 bail was Thomas Jasko (top, right), 23, of Woodcliff Lake, charged with assaulting police, resisting arrest and hindering apprhension.

Also taken into custody on charges of resisting arrest and rioting:

Kashawn Jamar West, (bottom right) 21, of Hackensack, who was being held on $35,000 bail;

Bryant K. Dula (bottom, left), 18, of Bogota, who was being held on $30,000 bail.

Police from several other area departments showed up quickly to assist their Hackensack colleagues.
