Both men apparently had been drinking after work and got into an argument on Broadway after the bar they were at closed yesterday.

“There was some pushing and shoving,” Detective Adam Hampton told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “One of them then pulled out a corkscrew and slashed the other one on the cheek.”

Uniformed officers who responded to the 3:50 a.m. call summoned an ambulance, then went to the alleged assailant’s house.

Westwood police assisted in the arrest of 36-year-old Junior Nunez-Batista, who “ultimately confessed to being involved in the incident,” Hampton said.

The victim was taken to HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley in Westwood, where he received several stitches.

Nunez-Batista posted  $2,500 bail and was released pending a Municipal Court appearance.
