Lyndhurst man, 68, struck, killed

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 68-year-old Lyndhurst man was struck and killed last night in what authorities called a an unfortunate accident.

The driver of the Lab Corp of America vehicle — a Clifton man who turned 62 today — told police the pedestrian walked out in front of him as was headed west on Valley Brook Avenue at 5:10 p.m., Lyndhurst Police Chief James O’Connor told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The victim wasn’t in the crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing, O’Connor said.

He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, where he died of his injuries just after 9 p.m., the chief said.

No summonses were issued in what O’Connor called “a tragic, unfortuate accident.”
