Bradford A. Patrick, 58, had previous run-ins with the neighbor that led to stalking charges, authorities said.
He was brought into court in Hackensack this week for arraignment on a superseding indictment that charges him with attempted murder of the neighbor and his son, aggravated assault, illegal weapons possession and stalking the victim’s wife and both of the couple’s sons.
Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor Danielle Grootenboer told the judge that a prior permanent restraining order will be an important point in the case.
Presiding Superior Court Judge Liliana DeAvila-Silebi set a Feb. 2 court date to give Patrick’s lawyer time to review the evidence.
Authorities said Patrick got angry after his neighbor apparently blew some snow onto his Pasadena Avenue property while digging out on Feb. 9, 2013 after a weekend storm.
The two exchanged words before Patrick went after him and two of the victim’s family members with a knife, they said.
The victim recovered after being taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with several stab wounds. The victim’s son rescued his father, leaving Patrick with injuries of his own, which were minor, police said at the time.
