The rig was headed into the intersection of Liberty Avenue with its lights and sirens on when it hit a silver Toyota Camry, which was traveling in the far right lane of westbound Route 46, Little Ferry Police Chief Ralph Verdi told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The impact left both vehicles catty-cornered at the intersection.

“One of the attendants was banged up pretty good,” Verdi said. “He was unconscious for a little while.”

The driver of the ambulance had to be taken to the hospital, as well, along with the two occpants of the other car (who complained of neck and back pain) and the original patient. Little Ferry and Moonachie ambulances handled the transports.

“We’re still investigating,” Verdi said. “It’s gonig to take a little while to sort everything out.”
