Last day to contribute to Thanksgiving food drive

You have until 5 o’clock today to donate to the Center for Food Action’s (CFA) Thanksgiving Food Drive — one of several areas throughout the county and North Jersey where you can make a difference for those in need following Hurricane Sandy.

“The CFA is in desperate need of resources due to their storm relief efforts and needs help providing goods for the less-fortunate this holiday season,” Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan said.

Donations can be made until 5 o’clock tonight at the Bergen County Administration Building.

Needed:

  • canned meats (tuna, chicken, etc);
  • canned hearty soup, vegetables &L fruit;
  • macaroni & cheese;
  • PB&J;
  • pasta & tomato sauce;
  • cold cereal (low sugar), oatmeal;
  • boxed milk (Parmalat, powdered milk, etc.);
  • instant potatoes;
  • 100% juice.

Household and baby items are needed as well, such as: baby formula & diapers (sizes 4, 5 & 6), bar soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and dental floss.

You can leave the items at the CFA kiosk, 1st-floor public lobby (by the County Clerk’s Office) in the Bergen County Administration Building at One Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack.

Supermarket gift cards are also welcomed donations. Gift cards from any supermarket can be donated at the County Executive’s Office (5th Floor – Room 580).

Please note that all donations must be in cans or boxes. Items in glass containers cannot be used and won’t be accepted. Also, please be mindful of expiration dates.
