Central Municipal Court Judge Roy McGeady made the ruling while also refusing to reverse last month’s conviction of Lemkin for altering his license plates and installing emergency lights in his own car without proper authorization.

McGeady, in his previous ruling, acquitted Lemkin of actually driving with the altered plates and an additional violation of failing to display a valid inspection sticker on his vehicle, following a four-day trial.

Lemkin, 35, said he tinted the windows and installed lights to make his black Ford Crown Victoria look like an undercover police vehicle as a crime deterrent in his neighborhood. Prosecutors said he also altered his license plates without authorization.

Insisting he did nothing wrong, and that another cop framed him, Lemkin asked the judge to reconsider. McGeady then issued today’s rulings.
