Judge acquits Hackensack police officers linked to Zisa

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A judge this morning cleared two city police officers of official misconduct and conspiracy for allegedly helping former Police Chief Ken Zisa cover up a robbery and assault investigation.

Sustained applause welcomed Superior Court Judge Donald R. Venezia’s verdicts in favor of Capt. Danilo Garcia and Detective Thomas Aletta (above, right) .

Prosecutors accused both men of conspiring with Zisa to whitewash the probe of two suspects whose mother, Kathleen Tiernan, used to be the deposed chief’s girlfriend.

Garcia and Aletta were tried separately from Zisa, who was convicted in September by a jury of official misconduct and insurance fraud.

Zisa was acquitted of conspiring with both men, and the judge threw out an official misconduct charge against the former chief. READ MORE….
