Indictment returned against Bergenfield man in Englewood luring incident

ONLY ON CVP: A Bergenfield man who Englewood police said planned on plying an 18-year-old pedestrian with alcohol in an attempt to have sex with her was indicted by a grand jury in Hackensack on charges of trying to entice the woman into his car.

Stephen Stanzione, 52, had the same intent while approaching three other women — two of whom police said he believed were in their mid-teens — before the alleged incident, authorities said following his arrest last April.

He deliberately chose the neighborhood because of two nearby schools and deliberately spoke to the woman because he thought she was much younger, they said.

What he didn’t know, they said, was that schools were closed for Spring Break.

The woman called police and described Stanzione and his Chevy Malibu.

City Detective Sgt. Christopher Kedersha and Detective Christopher Quirk spotted the vehicle a short time later on Tenafly Road.
