Indictment: Cliffside Park man threatened to hurt girl if she told of seven years of sex assaults

ONLY ON CVP: Beginning when she was 4 years old and continuing until she was 11, a Cliffside Park girl told investigators, she was sexually assaulted by a man who threatened to “hurt her if she told her mother,” an indictment returned by a grand jury in Hackensack alleges.

Luan L. Silva, a 23-year-old Brazilian national works who worked at a high-end auto detailing shop, was arrested last June by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and borough police. They’d been notified by the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP), who were alerted by school authorities, Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said at time.

Silva has been held on $400,000 bail in the county jail since then.

Last week, a grand jury returned an indictment charging him with three counts of aggravated sexual assault involving two different types of penetration and forced fellatio — all first-degree crimes.

The grand jurors also charged Silva with three separate sexual assault counts — touching the alleged victim’s breasts, vagina and buttocks — which are second degree-offenses.

A terrorizing charge was added for allegedly threatening the girl, while the final charge in the indictment involves impairing or debauching the morals of a child.
