No one was injured after the raised open-box bed of the private truck pouring asphalt snagged and yanked down the high-voltage wires and transformers, which exploded and set fire to the truck in front of 612 Huyler Street near the post office, South Hackensack Police Capt. Robert Kaiser told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Some homes were evacuated and power was out to some businesses in downtown Little Ferry as the raging fire incinerated the truck’s cab and spewed wind-swept flames that could be seen for miles. A portion of westbound Route 46 was closed, as well.
A foam unit from Teterboro Airport was dispatched.
