Brian Donohue went in and out of consciousness and was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center after his cruiser crashed into a light pole that wasn’t working in a parking lot on the highway’s southbound side just south of Teterboro Airport around 11:50 p.m., Detective Sgt. Michael Colaneri said.

Donohue — a 14-year department veteran known for, among other things, helping others in charitable causes — last month was appointed as a resource officer at the town’s two public elementary schools and the private, K-8 Corpus Christi School.

An accident investigation was being conducted, as is routine in such instances, Colaneri told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
