Hackensack police zero in on ‘Monday Night Football’ gunman

CLIFFVIEW PILOT HAS IT FIRST: Hackensack police are still interviewing witnesses and have a “person of interest” who they believe shot up the outside of an apartment after kicking in the door on a group of friends watching “Monday Night Football.”

Those inside the apartment in the city’s Fairmount section told police they hit the deck after the door was kicked in during the first quarter of the Packers-Vikings game.

Whoever was responsible then left, getting into a small, silver SUV, Lt. Jaime Barrios told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

As it pulled away, someone inside the vehicle fired three shots — one of which broke a window and another that hit the balcony, Barrios said.

Police were summoned by a neighbor who said she heard screams and then shots.

The five football fans “were semi-cooperative that night,” Barrios said. Some returned yesterday to be re-interviewed. A couple have yet to give full statements, the lieutenant said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Hackensack Police at (201) 646-7777. All calls will be kept confidential.
