Despondent over a trouble relationship, the man climbed onto the roof and threatened to jump from a three-story Prospect Avenue building around 1:30 this afternoon, Hackensack Police Director Michael Mordaga told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Officers Ralph Cavallo, Aldrin Lamboy and Revi Arauki arrived first and were quickly followed by Sgt. Niles Malvasia, Mordaga said.

Malvasia did most of the talking as the officers finally convinced the despondent man after 20 minutes to change his mind.

An ambulance then took him to Bergen Regional Medical Center.

“I’m proud of the way this was brought to a safe conclusion,” Mordaga said. “We hope this young man gets the help he needs.”
