Hackensack police got a call of people smoking marijuana in the Bowler City parking lot, next to Foschini Park, just after midnight yesterday, Detective Capt. Thomas Salcedo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

Responding officers spotted plastic bags outside the passenger-side door of a 2005 Dodge minivan, the captain said.

Inside, he said, 19-year-old Daniella Gutierrez (above, left) was filling a hollowed-out cigar with marijuana “while the officer stood there watching her.”

A search of the car turned up more pot and the heroin, tied in 14 bundles, Salcedo said. The amount would fetch several thousand dollars on the street, at anywhere from $7 to $15 apiece, depending on the quality and location of sale.

Police were arresting Gutierrez and another occupant, 21-year-old Lex Murphy, Salcedo said, when the third member of the group, Freddie Smith, 27, came walking out of Bowler City and asked what the commotion was about.

He was arrested, as well.

All three are charged with heroin possession and distribution and minor pot possession — both within 500 feet of a park — as well as drug paraphernalia possession.
