Hackensack police charge ex-con career criminal with tossing crack from car

Two detectives on patrol spotted the deal going down around 9:20 p.m. near the corner of Panborn Place and Clinton Place, Detective Capt. Thomas Salcedo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

As they approached the group, two people took off in a car and two others who were standing outside ran, he said.

Bags of crack cocaine were tossed from the vehicle during a brief chase before the car pulled over, the captain said.

Arrested were the driver, 42-year-old Jessie Livette McRae, and Bryant Kyron Dula, who turned 19 a little over a week ago.

Backup officers found all of the drugs that were tossed, Salcedo said. They also found crack and Ecstasy in the car, he said.

A repeat parole violator, McRae (above, top) has a 22-year rap sheet that includes a variety of drug offenses, thefts and aggravated assault on a police officer. He also has a long list of aliases, including Jessie Moraz, Darryl L. Jett and Curtis Black, records show.

McRae ducked authorities on drug-related charges out of Virginia last year before Hackensack police caught him in October.

They charged him this time with obstruction, hindering and eluding, along with two counts of drug distribution and two of possession, among other offenses.

McRae, who was also wanted on a warrant out of Englewood, was being held on a combined $51,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.

Dula, meanwhile, was being held on $25,000 bail, charged with hindering and drug possession.
