Lloyd, who was born and raised in the city and attended its schools, had the full support of the local PBA and FOP.

The Bergen County Chiefs Association was pleased with Mordaga making the appointment.

“We support the idea of an officer in charge because it goes in the direction of someday having a chief of police,” Wood-Ridge Police Chief Joseph Rutigliano, the county chiefs association president, told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Lloyd served in the U.S. Marine Corps before joining his father, a 27-year-old department veteran, on the city force. They worked together for three years.
