Hackensack man lays on tracks, killed by train

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 52-year-old man laid on the tracks before being struck and killed by an NJ Transit train in Hackensack tonight, multiple authorities told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Jorge Arcila of Hackensack lay down on the track at the intersection of Railroad and Central Avenues and was struck by Pascack Valley Line train 1625 out of Hoboken at 5:17 p.m.

A bus picked up the 300 or so passengers on the four-car train, which left Hoboken at 3:39 p.m. and was due to arrive in Spring Valley at 5:50 p.m., NJ Transit officials told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Four trains were cancelled as a result and service temporarily suspended, they said.
