Officers who were called to the 100 block of Glenbrook Parkway at 1:19 a.m. New Year’s Day said they found visible signs of assault on the 45-year-old victim.

They arrested Richard Thompson, also 45, who was under a permanent restraining order not to be near her.

The woman was tended to by emergency medical personnel, while Thompson was taken to police headquarters and then to the Bergen County Jail. He was released a week later after posting $70,000 bail.

The indictment returned by a grand jury in Hackensack charges him with aggravated assault for “recklessly” causing “serious bodily injury…under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life,” while violating a restraining order.
