Hackensack man charged after woman says she was raped while unconscious

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Hackensack man was charged with raping a woman after she told police she woke up at his apartment to find him having sex with her.

The 23-year-old woman said she and Luis A. Valencia, 33, “socialized together before going to his residence” Thursday night, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this morning.

She said she woke up later that evening to find him “engaging her in sexual intercourse,” he said.

She called city police, who notified Molinelli’s Special Victims Unit.

“During that interview, the victim provided details of what had occurred and stated that she had not consented to engaging in any type of sexual activity with Mr. Valencia,” the prosecutor said. “The ensuing investigation resulted in [his] arrest.”

Valencia, who is single and works as a salesman, was being held on $200,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with aggravated sexual assault.
