Charles A. Vera, 20, is charged with kidnapping with the intent to injure or terrorize, menacing (simple assault) and robbery in connection with last Thursday’s incident.

The girl’s mother told police that Vera came to her home before midnight and began banging on her door. He insisted to see her daughter, who’d recently broken up with him, Bergenfield Police Chief Michael T. Carr said.
The daughter eventually let him in and they argued before he dragged her out of the house, pushed her into his car and took off, the woman said.
Carr’s detectives immediately contacted Sprint and submitted a “wireless 911 emergency information request” for cell phone locations on both.
It led them to an address on East 125th Street.
The 25th Precinct of the NYPD was contacted and the NYPD took Vera into custody.
The girl, who was unharmed, was with him, Carr said.
An arrest warrant was issued, with no bail, charging Vera with first-degree kidnapping.
The woman, meanwhile, was returned home safely and refused any medical aid, the chief said.
On Monday, a judge in Hackensack added the assault and robbery charges.
The mother and daughter reportedly want to drop the charges, according to their lawyer. But that’s not how it works when such crimes are alleged: The case will go to a grand jury, given the severity of the charges.
