Jahad K. Jones, 25, will spend a minimum of three years in state prison under terms of his plea agreement with prosecutors — the mandatory minimum for gun possession under the state Graves Act.

In turn, dozens of charges were dropped.

These included threatening to kill the man, several counts of conspiracy, possession of hollow-nose bullets, possession of a weapon without a permit, pointing a weapon at the victim with indifference to human life, possession of a weapon with a prior conviction, hindering prosecution, lying to police and several counts involving the use of a minor in the commission of the crimes.

Jones, his brother Jahlil and sister Kanifa all approached the neighbor Aug 19, 2012 after the man allegedly threatened the younger sibling.

Jones said he pointed the .40-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun in an attempt to scare him.

Witnesses identified him for police, who said they saw Jones toss the gun from the getaway car, smashing the window of a parked vehicle.

Jahlil Jones, 28, of Lodi and Kanifah Jones, 26, of Hackensack still face several related charges. Both were given June 9 plea cutoffs.

Their brother is set to be sentenced Aug. 1.
