The four-count indictment returned by a grand jury in Hackensack this week also accuses Russell Dawson of illegal weapons possession.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Dawson — who remained free on bail this morning — would be re-arrested or have a new court appearance based on the upgraded charge.

A judge originally ordered him held on $50,000 bail following the Sept. 9 the incident at a Kansas Street apartment building, which police said shattered the bottle and put the woman in Hackensack University Medical Center with severe head trauma.

But it was reduced to $10,000, which Dawson posted 10 days later, records show.

The indictment says the 6-foot, 165-pound Dawson “purposely attempted to cause the death” of the victim, “attempted to cause serious bodily injury” to her and “purposely or knowingly caused bodily injury to [her] with a deadly weapon.”
