The city resident was struck in the back near the shoulder blade with a single shot on James Street around 1 a.m., said Capt. Francesco Aquila, the department's officer in charge.
He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment, said Aquila, adding that the injury wasn't considered life-threatening.
