Hackensack Firefighters Raise Money For MDA, Douse Blaze

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Hackensack firefighters had wrapped up a "Fill the Boot" collection Saturday when they had to rush to a blaze.

Members of Hackensack Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2081 and Hackensack Uniformed Fire Officers IAFF Local 3172 were joined by members of their MDA family -- Christina and sons Robert and Jonathan.

All companies responded to the Union Street address, where they knocked down the first-floor fire.

For more than 60 years, International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) locals across the U.S. and Canada have held "Fill the Boot" campaigns to send children with muscular dystrophy to Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) summer camp.

Members of Hackensack Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2081 and Hackensack Uniformed Fire Officers IAFF Local 3172 were joined by members of their MDA family -- Christina and sons Robert and Jonathan -- outside the Home Depot/Staples shopping center on Hackensack Avenue.
