Favio F. Maldonado was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment after being arrested Friday by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and Hackensack police.
Earlier that day, the girl “disclosed to her mother that [Maldonado] touched her over and under her clothing on several occasions,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon.
The mother went to city police, who Molinelli said notified his office and the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
“Arrangements were made for the victim to be interviewed by a detective from the Special Victims Unit at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus,” he said. “During that interview, the victim provided specific details as to what had occurred between her and [Maldonado].”
