The 27-year-old man was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, Police Chief James O’Connor told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“He’s fortunate it wasn’t worse than it is,” O’Connor said.

The Chase Avenue man apparently had removed the magazine and forgotten that a bullet remained in the chamber as he was cleaning the Glock 23 just before midnight last night, the chief said.

The .40-caliber bullet went through is right biceps, he said.
