Greek tourist shot outside Garden State Plaza, possibly with pellet gun

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Paramus police were investigating the New Year’s Eve shooting oustide the Garden State Plaza, possibly with a pellet gun, of a Greek woman visiting the United States.

Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said detectives interviewed the woman after being summoned to Hackensack University Medical Center around 6:30 last night.

The victim told them she and two other people were walking east towards Route 17 between Legal Seafood and Macy’s when she was hit in the chest.

All three then drove off, she said.

A short time later, she told police, she noticed a small wound, so her friends drove her to the hospital for treatment.

Officers searched the lot and surrounding area and spoke with several people “with negative results,” Ehrenberg said.

They returned today to view surveillance video from several locations.

The woman, meanwhile, was kept overnight for observation and was released early this afternoon,. the chief said.

Police are still waiting for doctors to tell them what caused the wound.
