Grand jury indicts trio nabbed by Bergen County Police officer on gun charges

ONLY ON CVP: Three people — two of them convicted felons — were carrying a pair of guns when a Bergen County police officer stopped their car for an unsafe lane change on Route 46 in Palisades Park, a grand jury indictment returned in Hackensack charges.

BCPD Officer Fred Rivera stopped the red Honda Civic on the westbound highway on Jan. 27.

Rivera grew suspicious “when the three occupants of the vehicle provided him with conflicting and inconsistent answers to his questions,” Capt. James Mullin told CLIFFVIEW PILOT at the time.

After obtaining written consent to search the car, he found more than $6,000 in cash, along with a Sig Sauer P228 9mm and a Davis Industries P380 .380 cal., also known as a Saturday Night Special, the captain said.

All three occupants denied ownership, Mullin said.

The driver, 23-year-old Natausha L. Bourquin of Springfield, Vt. (left), already had a gun conviction out of New York on her record, authorities said.

One of her passengers, Manuel Robles, 32 of Jersey City (right), had a conviction for child endangerment out of Hudson County, they said.

The grand jury charged both with being felons in possession of the two guns.

The second passenger, 21-year-old Crystal L. Canas, also of Jersey City (middle), was charged with two counts of illegal weapons possession.

Robles also was charged with hindering arrest by identifying himself as someone else. Detainers were also placed on him for skipping court once in Hoboken and twice in Jersey City, records show.

He remained held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.

Canas posted $50,000 bail and was released the same day. Borquin was released on $40,000 bail two months after the arrests.
